Ideas and Colour Themes

Loading

Whilst we know that many of you are highly creative and cannot wait to get your hands on our lovely products, we do appreciate that sometimes a few ideas are required, particularly with colour themes! So, we have given you some popular colour themes and indicated which items are available within that colour. Not all available items are always included as sometimes it's nice to find them yourself, but we’ve tried to give you a good cross section. We’ve also included some ideas on how to use our products for other special occasions, such as a Christening.

Sample Service

We also offer a Sample Service, which you can find on our freeze dried rose petals, freeze dried hydrangea petals and freeze dried peony petals pages. Please do not hesitate to contact us on 0845 362 7723 to discuss any other samples that we may have, to help you choose your colour theme.

Crystallised Petals

We have recently been asked whether we can crystallise our freeze dried rose petals to use on a cake - the answer is Yes! Click here for the recipe crystallised freeze dried rose petals and the fact that they are preserved means that they can be made several days in advance. On a different tack, we have also supplied our rose petals for freezing within ice sculptures - they look stunning!

1) A Winter wedding or a Christmas Table

Using a theme of Burgundy and gold, we have used the following items to create an opulent table featuring rich colours and flickering candlelight:-

Gold skeleton leaves placed in glasses, under tealights and under storm lanterns. Gold clip on butterflies on the edge of the platters/plates and on the chairbacks. Burgundy touch freeze dried rose petals in the storm lanterns, sprinkled along the length of the table and on a large gold rimmed dish with a large pillar candle as a table centrepiece. Dark fuchsia freeze dried peony heads on the chairbacks and nestling in a glass bowl with a string of white fairy lights. Whole freeze dried rose heads placed in a glass for each place setting, attached by ribbon to the cake slice and displayed en masse in an old French liqueur dispenser. White Litecubes placed in the champagne cooler. Burgundy spiked feather candle rings around the base of the storm lanterns. Pressed flowers ivy leaves used as name place cards with names written in gold pen and displayed with cream freeze dried rose buds. Burgundy pressed flowers roses used on the name cards. Iced ivy candle rings used as table centrepieces.

2) A Summer wedding reception or a Summer garden party

Shades of pink and white combined with masses of old fashioned garden roses and peonies make this theme truly feminine, nostalgic and romantic. Add your best linen and wafer-thin china to set the scene for a memorable, sunlit afternoon and then light the candles to take you well into the small hours of the evening.

We used our freeze dried peony heads in different shades of pink arranged on an enamelled cake stand and laid on each side plate. Glasses were filled with cava and rose petal syrup. We filled the centrepiece vase with our freeze dried rose petals [put a small vase inside a larger one and fill the gap between them with petals, then add water to the inside vase and fill with fresh blooms] and we also put them in the storm lanterns. We used our decorated sugar cubes and Belgian chocolate favours to decorate the saucers. The clip on butterflies were added to the storm lanterns and the crystal flower jewels added a twinkle to the name place cards and were scattered on the table. The glass tealight holders had pink tealights added. The sweetheart confetti boxes were filled with the freeze dried rose petals and laid on each place setting. Our flower girl Katy had her own [overly large!] basket of freeze dried rose petals in blush, her bridesmaid's wand and was accompanied by Holly the dog in her very own Wedding doggie t-shirt. Finally - just in case the weather didn't behave, we had our rose decorated umbrellas handy!

3) Afternoon tea for two or a late summer intimate reception

Take blue and white combined with a splash of green, add wire work furniture, delicate teacups and individual cakes and you have a magical setting for any kind of afternoon celebration.

We used freeze dried hydrangea petals in blue and green in the storm lanterns and to fill the d.i.y confetti cones, decorated with the blue crystal flower jewels. Freeze dried delphinium heads decorated a cake stand, and pressed flower hydrangeas in blue were placed around the rims of the plates and filled our petal envelopes. White pressed flower hydrangeas were used on the name cards. Blue butterfly garlands were wound through the backs of the chairs. Finally, lavender grains were scattered over the floor so that as guests walked on them, they released their perfume into the air.

A baby’s Christening

Following requests from many people we have put together a “pink” and a “blue” Christening picture using one of the very versatile iced fruit cakes from M&S. We’ve added narrow satin ribbon, pressed flowers pinned into place with pearl headed pins, butterflies, scattered rose petals, hydrangea petals or freeze dried delphinium heads, used more pressed flowers on the name cards and used butterflies from the butterfly garlands around napkins…

Of course, any items from the relevant colour themes above can be incorporated easily.
